How Does Your Garden Grow?
May 16 2012 · 1 comment · Outdoor Living ·0
This is that wonderful time of year when gardens are full of promise and blooms in every color~ and time for my friend Jen and I to take our traditional trip to Russell’s Nursery! Every year we visit and chose from their unique and bountiful selection of perennial plants, annuals and herbs for our borders, pots and trellises.
While Jen ‘tiptoed through the tulips’, I walked among the roses and found some beauties to share with you. Roses have come a long way from the fragile, disease-prone plants of yesteryear. Today there are Knock-Out varieties that bloom all season and colors to match every fabric… take a peek.
Isn’t this a pretty shade of yellow?
This apricot is so soft, it would compliment a deeper orange hue as well.
Love this trendy orange….
These are rainbow sherbet roses~ makes me feel like getting an ice cream cone, how about you?
If you look closely at these roses you can see the double petals–and they are climbers too, love them!
These wooden supports come in all sizes and shapes to aid your roses and other plants
I spotted these chic containers, perfect for a terrace garden
…and these more traditional terra cotta containers for a patio
Time to get back to the flowers. Poppies are one of my favorites in the garden…
When the flowers are closed their little heads droop and they seem so heavy~but then the pod opens and the petals slowly unfurl and unravel like wrinkled tissue paper into beautiful transparent paper-like petals. The centers can be dark and threadlike and dance in the wind. This is a flower with many transformations…just like some of us.
Poppies showing off
Poppies all in a row
Whatever (or wherever) you choose to plant this year, consider a tour of your local nursery to see what is growing and try something new in your garden~ you may just fall in love …
“Mary Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row.”

Pamela's Posh Picks: The Met Gala {Tangerine} Carpet
May 11 2012 · 1 comment · Posh Picks ·0
This week the Met Ball took place in NYC! Aptly nicknamed the “Oscars of the East Coast”, the Met Ball celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. This year the red carpet event took on a tangerine hue as many stars donned gowns in the Pantone Color of the Year.
Trends in interiors and fashion often mirror one another and this year’s Met Ball is a perfect example. Here are some of my favorite tangerine gowns from the gala event!
Ginnifer Goodwin looks shapely and delicious as an orange in this silk chiffon cap sleeve gown with an embroidered neckline and draped skirt~love the details!
Eva Mendes in Prada tangerine silk strapless peplum gown with bejeweled bodice is perfect!
Tory Burch in coral appliqué orchids on white tulle has borrowed a fabric directly from a fabric showroom~ this would look great in a ball gown drape…
Kristen Bell looks lovely in Tommy Hilfiger’s crinkle silk chiffon gown with a halter neckline. The waist ruching is reminiscent of a drapery style swag valance.
Kristen Wiig is all decked out in orange lace oh so chic!
Katherine McPhee is a SMASH in a glittering sparkling orange gown by Elie Saab.
Oh how I heart orange…

BDC Seminar Series: Passion, Imagination and Design
May 08 2012 · 0 comments · Design Events, Inspiration ·0
Last week Janus et Cie at the Boston Design Center sponsored a wonderful seminar featuring Pamela Jaccarino, Editor-in-Chief of Luxe Interiors + Design magazine. Luxe is the quintessential source for those with a passion for creating beautiful surroundings and living well.
The presentation was entitled Passion, Imagination and Design. During her engaging talk, Pamela highlighted many of the inspirations and influences that are helping to shape creativity and design today. Featuring some of her favorite elite designers and spaces they’ve designed, along with meaningful quotes and background information, she inspired all in attendance.
Here is a snippet of her message and some photos (taken from her power point program, my apologies on the quality). I hope you too glean some ideas from this seminar!
“If you love what you do the passion and excitement are always there to provide the curiosity and drive necessary to succeed. My work reflects the joy I get out of transforming the wishes of my clients into beautiful spaces.” ~Jamie Drake
I love this quote, especially the universality of the first sentence. As a designer, I also reflect this philosophy in my designs.
This is a Jamie Drake design for a client.
Such a great, eclectic mix of furnishings and the art work, I love the great pops of color as well.
This design is called Purple Zinger–can you see why?
This is an Amy Lau design:
Amy is inspired by nature and abstract art which is reflected in her design work. She was quoted as saying, “I never tried black on the walls ever, this was really forward thinking for me.” The client she was working with insisted that black be used as a backdrop for her colorful furnishings and art–and Amy totally made it work.
I love this quote…
Imagination is the creative process, training the eye to see the very best.
Imagination can be “kick started” by viewing fashion and home magazines, blogs or websites.
I’ve experience this type of inspiration firsthand~ I’ve designed window hardware using a piece of jewelry as my inspiration and a feathered leading edge border on a drapery inspired by an earring. Tip: look at things 3 different ways… and always THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.
Passion and Imagination lead to my favorite: DESIGN
This is a workbook of doodles that will transform into a glorious fabric and wallpaper collection. Amazingly, the design all started with a colored pencil in a wire-bound notebook from Staples.
Ron Woodson and Jaime Rummerfield designed this beautiful room for the Greystone Estate Showhouse. This was the front cover of the program~ isn’t it grand?
Their designs are known for Hollywood glamour and the belief that having one foot grounded in the past and one foot to walking towards the future keeps one’s designs planted firmly in the present.
I absolutely adore this next space~
I am ready and waiting to re-create this bedroom for my next client! Who wouldn’t love this ~ step right up!
Do you remember the lobbies in grand hotels that would feature a circular settee in the center of the reception area?
It looks right at home in this space as well. Such an elegant and functional piece of furniture.
At the end of the magnificent presentation, Pamela asked us several thought provoking questions that I now pose to you:
“What is your passion?”
“How will you expand your imagination?
“What drives your passion”
I challenge you to take out your journal (you do have one, right?) and record some thoughts on these questions. Then go back to this page all week and work on completing a plan as it relates to your passion. It will thrill you to explore the possibilities and get you thinking about how to translate your passion into action!
Finally, a photo op with Jennifer Matthews, Vice President, Group Publisher, moi and Pamela Jaccarino, Editor-in-Chief, Luxe Interiors + Design magazine, taken at the post-seminar luncheon at the JANUS et Cie showroom.

Pamela's Posh Picks: Cinco de Mayo
May 06 2012 · 1 comment · Posh Picks ·0
Saludos amigos! I hope you are enjoying this Cinco de Mayo weekend! While the origin of the Cinco de Mayo holiday may be an improbable victory by the Mexicans against the invading French army in the city of Pueblo, it has really evolved into a celebration of the Mexican way of life. In honor of this fun holiday, this week’s Posh Picks include the great collection of festive Mexican inspired fabrics that the Boston Design Center has put together on their blog: The BDC Goes South of the Border.
I invite you to enjoy a margarita and some chips and guac and go ahead and take a peek!

PIC + BDC = Stylish Community Service
May 01 2012 · 4 comments · Community Service, Posh Partners ·0
It has always been part of my company’s mission statement to donate professional services. Since our founding, we have taken on a variety of different community service projects including stenciling a tired teacher’s lounge in an elementary school, designing two receptions areas in my town’s Community Center and donating artwork to fundraising auctions supporting a plethora of worthy causes. Over the past several years, I have been privileged to be involved with two different organizations that work with Boston Public high school students : Boston Private Industry Council and STEP Inspire. Both of these organizations seek to connect students to careers and workplaces in a variety of industries, offering a glimpse of a bright future.
This past March, Jen Bardsley, Paul Neal and I hosted a group of students from the Boston PIC program at the Boston Design Center. Together we toured several showrooms while the students completed a fun Design Challenge.
To start the day, Julie Rogowski, the VP/General Manager of the BDC, welcomed the students and shared her personal career journey.
Our next stop was the Sherwin Williams Color Studio. Here the the students were divided into 2 teams for the Design Challenge: to create an inspiration board for a first apartment.
The showroom manager shared a bit about Sherwin-Williams, the different formulas of paint and her education. She then offered them paint chip samples to help get them started with their project design.
Next, we were on to the Lee Jofa showroom to view and be inspired by fabrics, wall coverings, trims, carpets and furnishings.
First though, Carol Ann spoke about her various positions before she reached Lee Jofa. The students were impressed with her amazing vocabulary and in turn, Carol Ann stressed the importance of being well spoken. She encouraged our students to read classic literature and watch PBS as excellent ways to build your language and writing skills. Oh, and she also discussed the beauty of fabrics–of course!
Rebecca at the Osborne and Little showroom gave a tour of her area and showed off some unusual wall coverings in faux leather and mock feathers~ all tres chic.
No tour at the BDC would be complete without a stop at Rolf Benz Studio.
Gary demonstrated the unique features of his “magical” furnishings. Naturally everyone wanted a turn to test them out!
My team was finalizing their design palette for an apartment in Jamaica (where one of the girl’s was going to college in the Fall). Don’t you just love the bright colors for a tropical location?
Paul’s team had a more tailored conservative approach, which is respectable and sooo Paul ;-).
I am so proud of the presentation and design my team created. Bravo!
A photo of the entire group: students from PIC, Jen, Paul and me ~ a grand day of volunteerism indeed.
What an honor to spend the day with these wonderful young people! After a day like this I am always left with a fulfilling feeling of optimism about the future.
To quote my daughter’s high school yearbook…

Pamela's Posh Picks: Patio Umbrellas
Apr 27 2012 · 2 comments · Outdoor Living, Posh Picks ·0
Spring has definitely sprung! The earth is covered in green and beautiful flowering trees and bulbs punctuate the landscape with vibrant pops of color. I’ve already been enjoying time out on my terrace and as always, am looking foward to many more hours outside as the even warmer weather approaches. Of course we don’t always want to be in the sun when we’re out on our decks and patios, sometimes you need a little bit of shade. This weeks Posh Picks are all about creating shade while maintaining style. Enjoy!
The Shadylace Parasol is “stencil-cut to allow beams and dapples of sunshine through, giving a natural quality of light and shade”.
The lacey leaf pattern is so unique and lovely, giving you the feeling of sitting under a maple tree. Did you notice the golden bird finial at the top? Whimsical perfection!
The Pagoda Umbrella from Pier 1 is full of painterly personality with a bohemian-Asian vibe.
I envision lots of colorful floor pillows in piles underneath for lounging . Pure fun….
The Emberglow patio umbrella with its’ sophisticated orange and white pattern would be a perfect compliment with white or dark patio furniture~
Doesn’t every umbrella look just a wee bit better with tassels? This Carousel Gingko umbrella certainly does!
Wouldn’t it be fun to embellish the edges of a plain market umbrella with tassels or a scallop edge trim? Of course there’s always the perennial favorite tiny white fairy lights. So many great options for great looking shade!
Finally, this tiki-inspired Palapa umbrella. I first saw this style of umbrella at my friend Susan’s pool and I fell in love with it. Susan has this style of umbrella alongside her pink pool house and it looks great. This Posh Pick get points not only for sentimental reasons but also because I love the way the faux grass dances in the wind.
With so many great choices and creative options, have a great time selecting your summer umbrella (or 2!)

One Stop Shopping for Inspiration: The Boston Design Center
Apr 24 2012 · 1 comment · Behind the Design, Inspiration ·0
The Boston Design Center is one of my favorite places on earth! It is just chock full of eye candy and inspiration. During my visit last week I decided to snap some photos with my new iPhone (love it) and take you on a virtual tour of some of the beautifully arranged windows and interior vignettes. I hope you too are inspired by these creative showrooms!
As I walk down the first floor hallway the first showroom to greet me is JANUS et Cie. I have always loved their signature golden topiary~especially as it is here: installed well above the round table. Do take note of the green hedge wall, another distinctive JANUS et Cie trademark.
Isn’t this umbrella covered white sectional oh-so inviting? Just think of the guests you could seat here and the conversations you could share…
Further on, I spied these cross leg tables from the Lee Jofa showroom. These are favorites of mine and can be used alone or in multiples~ tres chic.
At FDO (For Designers Only) they offer a treasure trove of accent pieces perfect for completing a design. The only danger here? With so many possibilities, don’t forget to edit.
Grange Furniture offers the most unusual tables. Cup of tea ma’am? Kravet Fabrics wins my awards for Most Cutting Edge and Most Frequently Updated Showroom Designs thanks to Bill Elinoff and his design team. I love the layered nuances of this tranquil bed setting. At first blush it appears to be a tailored glam look, but upon closer inspection you also discover the mica wall covering, custom silk duvet and chartreuse velvet bench that add that extra pizzazz. Oh, how sexy!
Of course Kravet’s Main Street Window is perfect as always ~
A peek into Charles Spada is truly a treat for the senses. This showroom is full of unique antique pieces that tell a story and lend a patina of history and romance to any design.
The new window at Webster & Company is perfect for Spring with a dazzling new wallpaper mural in pale pink… what do you think?
The Boston Design Center is known for its extensive selection of fine fabrics and each showroom displays them in very interesting ways~
Don’t you love the way Lee Jofa has showcased the new Kelly Wearstler line?
Duralee has chosen to cascade their fabrics down a wall. I love how this method highlights the bright colors and vibrant patterns on the fabrics.
Beacon Hill has a very contemporary way to showcase their beautiful materials.
I am so lucky to walk the halls of the Boston Design Center and hand pick the best elements for my client’s projects. If you would like to see these and other displays at the BDC contact me for a custom tour and inspiration galore!

Pamela's Posh Picks: Designer Sunglasses
Apr 21 2012 · 2 comments · Posh Picks ·0
Is that you behind those shades?
This week I had the pleasure of shopping for new eyeglass frames with my friend, Campbell. I was pleasantly surprised by the stylish couture sunglasses that are now available~perfect inspiration for this week’s Posh Picks!
Original Wayfarer from Ray-Ban:
Can you believe these are the classic Ray Bans but now updated with colorful stripes? These will match my every summer ensemble, don’t you think?
Chanel Signature cat-eye sunglasses outlined in cultured pearls:
Oh, I love these Chanel frames- if you look closely you can see the cultured pearls along the top and the famous double “cc” logo at the temple. I might even wear these sunglasses to the symphony at night ~ they are just soooo chic!
Prada Illusion ski-mask inspired sunglasses:
Now, these futuristic frames are what Prada is all about – high fashion!
I was told by Timothy Aloysius Trail, from New Look Optical in Winchester, that the Jackie O Ray Bans are still a best seller. A true classic, just like Jackie herself.
And of course, you know I can’t resist a Kate Spade design. Oversized, pink, and fab, with a modified cat-eye shape~ I may just have to splurge on this pair!
Remember to protect the health of your beautiful, flirty eyes with a stylish pair of “sunnies” (as Rachael Zoe would say) and in turn, they will make you look like a STAR!

My Interior Art Paintings
Apr 10 2012 · 7 comments · Artists, My Designs, Personal ·0
For years now, I’ve been learning to paint with oils. Thanks in no small part to the wide variety of classes I’ve taken with so many gifted instructors and artists, I’ve made great strides. I so enjoy the process of oil painting, the tranquility and creativity it affords, and with much practice, the results. Over the years I’ve painted an array of subject matter: from flowers and landscapes to portraits and figures to still life. However, I had yet to find a genre that would “just fit me”. Then came my a-ha moment: I decided to try painting interiors. Using my own designs along with designs from magazines as inspiration, I think I may have found my niche!
I am really having fun with this new genre and I’m loving these petite (6″x6″) room portraits. Come take a peek and please, let me know what you think~
This first one is almost an exact duplicate of the magazine shot with the exception of the carpet which is my interpretation as you can see.
It’s amazing what you can fit on a 6×6 canvas, isn’t it?
The next magazine shot I rendered very loosely. The under painting is a coral red and I love how it peeks out from the taupe paint. I changed the color of the pink pouf to my new fave, orange. It seems to be very “in” to paint with large brush strokes and not with too much detail~ this is an example of that style.
Ah, my friend Paul insisted I find a room that was masculine. I think this is perfect: the dark wood paneling, the painting of a virile animal and books in bold, dark colors. You may notice the original has a black cross drawn in the middle of it, this helps guide me in the drawing of the furniture and other large details.
My friend, teacher, and outstanding painter, Lisa Daria Kennedy encouraged me to paint the edges of this room very loosely to draw the eye towards the chair and the desk. I experimented and loved the result… Thank you L.
And finally my favorite~My interpretation of the cover of Veranda (note the absence of the puppy…). However the silk window creation, niches and soft peach hues remain and frame the window overlooking this grand view. Ahhh, Spring…..
If you would like a painting of one of your favorite interiors please contact me~ these also make extra special stationary…
I hope you enjoy sharing in my painting journey as much as I am enjoying taking it! As always, thank you for your feedback and support!

Pamela's Posh Picks: Outdoor Rugs
Apr 06 2012 · 1 comment · Posh Picks ·0
Spring has officially arrived and now we here in New England can look forward to designing (and using!) our outdoor spaces. Whether you have a patio, a gazebo, a terrace or a deck, one of the best strategies as you begin envisioning your space is to start from the ground up. In that spirit, this week’s Posh Picks are a varied and fabulous selection of indoor/outdoor rugs.
Jaipur Rugs Barcelona Red/Orange
I love the red/orange color and geometric design of this fresh looking rug. It would pair seamlessly with West Indies inspired patio furniture: think dark stained wood and wicker with bright, coordinating cushions and accessories.
Trans Ocean Terrace Zebra Brown Indoor/Outdoor Rug
By now you know that I cannot pass up a chance to highlight nearly anything in an animal print! This sophisticated zebra inspired print would look great on a Bachelor Balcony. Sleek chaises in dark brown powder coated metal complete this sophisticated, masculine look.
Dash & Albert Woven Marina Stripe Indoor Outdoor Rug
This lively rug is both classic and durable. To me, this is Cape Cod style all the way. This would be beautiful on a patio with white furniture ~ how about a dining set with a complementary umbrella in a bold shade of green or blue?
Rug Market Resort Toulouse Blue Outdoor Rug
The Toulouse rug oozes romance. It would be perfectly at home on a terrace overlooking a perennial garden. I picture a Victorian white wicker chaise topped with hints of raspberry in the pillows and perhaps maybe even a parasol for shelter from the sun. Mmmmm, iced tea in this lovely ladies lounging area sounds delightful!
Koko Co. floormat, Optic in Pink/Red
Bold, hot & frisky describe this Koko Co. floormat. The bright and modern design would provide the perfect colorful pop in a gazebo or screened porch ~ so fun!
I just know that warmer temperatures will return and soon we’ll all be enjoying our outdoor spaces! Should you desire assistance designing or styling your outdoor space this year, do contact me ~ I’d love to collaborate with you!

Stylin' at Rolf Benz
Apr 03 2012 · 1 comment · Behind the Design, Design Events ·0
In a recent Pamela’s Posh Picks blog post, I introduced you to the versatile German-made furniture line by Rolf Benz. Available now at the Boston Design Center, the ROLF BENZ Studio showroom also features offerings from TEAM 7 and Draenert. When I last visited the showroom and my dear friend and showroom manager Gary Riegel, the team was still getting settled in their new space. Last week however, I had the pleasure of helping Gary style his new showroom for its official opening soiree.
Styling, not to be confused with “blitzing” (another design term, I’ll talk about at a later date), is one of my favorite parts of my job as a designer. When you style a space you enhance all of the hard work invested in the project to date. Successful styling really makes a space shine.
Come take a peek at some of the styling we did at the Rolf Benz showroom…
Before styling, this table is a bit stark:
And after styling, looks much more inviting, doesn’t it?
This Team 7 Free standing wall unit with glass partitions is so unique. I just love the versatility.
The storage and display options are endless. The glass pieces we chose to highlight in this piece look amazing–even more so in person with the light streaming through!
These 3 graceful vases mimic the curves of this sofa.
I love the simplicity of this coffee table display. Sometimes less is more…
Especially when there are lots of options:
No worries, we edited things down beautifully…
The Freistal line from Rolf Benz is more casual yet still modern. The mix of fabrics reminds me of an Anthropologie-esque vibe. Definitely fun to style!
Why yes, I coordinated the candies to the furniture! Doesn’t everyone? 😉
All of this styling and primping was in anticipation of the Opening Night festivities. Here’s a glimpse into the showroom before the guests arrive… Gary and Desa Facey discussing last minute details
With the arrival of the Jazz Band, the party was in full swing:
The German guests (and I thought I traveled the farthest from the South Shore!): Stefanie Geiger of Rolf Benz, Robert Schmid of Draenert and Oliver Bayeri, Team 7
My dear Gary Riegel and moi ~ Congratulations on a successful opening!
It was a week to remember and I can’t wait to present these stunning lines to my clients!
Please keep me in mind the next time you want someone to STYLE your home for a new fresh look, it can make all the difference…

Pamela's Posh Picks: Kate Spade Dinnerware
Mar 29 2012 · 3 comments · Holiday, Inspiration, Posh Picks ·0
With the Easter holiday and traditional Easter dinner “hopping” closer, I’ve been thinking about beautiful tableware once again. I love to create festive, elegant table settings and this week’s Posh Picks from Kate Spade’s Home Decor line will help you do just that…
Don’t you love this painterly black & white pattern? Placed on a bright linen tablecloth, this china adds a dash of whimsical sophistication to your holiday table:
This simple bow pattern is more traditional. It reminds me of the sweet bows my Emily used to wear in her hair, especially with her Easter dress.
Of course if you’d like a more contemporary look you could pair the Grace Avenue china with this bright yellow accent plate:
Wickford Sea Cliffs Stripe Accent Plate
This yellow pattern just smiles ~ I think this is the perfect plate for a Santa Rosa Salad, full of greenery and orange peppers (my friend Amy’s delicious recipe).
Let’s continue the creativity by using the yellow stripe plate yet again with my next pick…
Larabee Road black accent plate:
Layering different patterns and mixing and matching your plates, glassware and table dressing helps to create interest and drama, setting the “stage” for a lovely gathering.
Finally, as the children hop down the bunny trail in search of bounty for their Easter baskets, you can serve dessert and coffee. Presented in these wonderful artisan cups, you can ensure your meal will come to a memorable conclusion.
Illustrated Step Brightly Cup & Saucer Set:
I encourage you to have a colorful and creative time dressing your Easter table this year!

Posh Palettes Inspiration Board: Spring
Mar 27 2012 · 2 comments · Inspiration, Posh Palettes Presentation Panel ·0
“Oh Spring! I want to go out and feel you and get inspiration.”
~Emily Carr
Last week in the Boston area we enjoyed record breaking warmth. Temperatures topped 70 degrees and sunny cerulean blue skies were the norm for 5 days in a row. I felt like I was on vacation! Now the forsythia are blooming next to the daffodils and crocuses, and it is just splendid.
All of this warmth coupled with the afterglow of Alexa Hampton’s lecture and her amazing project boards inspired me to create a vibrant Spring Inspiration Board for some of my personal projects…
I was inspired by my current favorite color ORANGE~ which as you may recall just so happens to be the Pantone color of the year. Similar to my Presentation Panels for clients, I love to use texture, color, appeal to all of the senses. On this board, the scent of suntan lotion transports me right to the beach, a beach photo recalls memories of younger days, and a bright lipstick brings to mind salty, smudged kisses…
I love woven wood blinds any time of the year but particularly in the Spring and Summertime. Consider installing these versatile window coverings on a porch to shield you just enough from the direct sunshine and then easily roll them up when you want to admire the full view~
Ahhhh, the romance of a toile. Always a classic but so much more cheeky in orange and magenta, don’t you think?
The changing of the seasons invites you to take out all your colorful clothing and accessories. It seems that subliminally I tend to purchase clothes to match my interiors… I wouldn’t want to clash would I??
Just between us, it’s not really subliminal ;-).
The next time you want to approach a design project, why not put together an inspirational board for yourself? It’s so much fun and you just might surprise yourself with some unique textures and color combinations that you adore…

Pamela's Posh Picks: MacKenzie-Childs, Spring 2012
Mar 24 2012 · 2 comments · Posh Picks ·0
A brand new catalog arrived this week from one of my all-time favorite companies, MacKenzie-Childs. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know how much I love anything from MacKenzie-Childs (in fact I wrote about their Flower Market line last Spring). All of their pieces are imbued with a whimsical, colorful, uber-creative spirit that I so adore. Browsing through their latest catalog, I fell in love all over again. Without further ado, I present this week’s Posh Picks from MacKenzie-Childs!
The Merrifield chandelier is adorned with ceramic birds, colored prisms and wands and a crystal bobeche on each arm. So over the top, so amazing, can you stand it?? This chandelier is one of those pieces that the more you look at it, the more you see. So many beautiful layers of craftsmanship! The Merrifield chandelier is definitely “tripping the light fantastic”!
In a product category that lacks imagination, this fireplace screen is a true standout! I love everything about this piece, from the hand painted ceramic pears to the black and white checked feet. So beautiful, so imaginative!
This vibrant rug will add pizazz to whatever space it graces. Whether placed in a pantry, a laundry room or an entry, this rug is sure to make you smile at the sight of it
Flower Market Triple Wall Hook:
I’d never misplace my keys again if I had this charmingly delightful enamel wall hook to hang them on!
Epaulet Accent Table:To me, this Epaulet accent table epitomizes the MacKenzie-Childs style. It is whimsical and beautifully executed. I adore the be-ribboned drawer pull and how the table legs look to be wearing tap shoes ~ such elegant fun! Beauty, function and really, everything you could ever want in a side table, don’t you think?
I hope you’ve enjoyed browsing through this week’s Posh Picks from MacKenzie-Childs. Do take a peek at their website and treat yourself to some beautiful browsing ~ maybe you’ll find something you can’t live without. After all, every home can use at least one MacKenzie-Childs piece!

Alexa Hampton at the Boston Design Center

Alexa Hampton is the President and featured designer of MARK HAMPTON, LLC., the world famous design firm founded by her late father Mark in 1976, and she is FABULOUS!
Last week Ms. Hampton returned to the Boston Design Center to introduce her latest fabric line with Kravet and to give a presentation based on her book, The Language of Interior Design. I always enjoy the seminars at the BDC; I find them educational, informative, and inspirational and this one certainly did not disappoint. Ms. Hampton is an energetic, articulate and humorous speaker and her talent is just breathtaking. I spent a delightful afternoon at this event, hosted by Bill Elinoff of the Kravet Showroom, enjoying an as-always delicious lunch while Alexa signed books and mingled with the attendees with her signature grace and charm.
Let’s take a look at some of her beautiful designs….
This Manhattan home features a Dining Room space that moves easily into the Living Area ~ the subtle colors work to harmonize the two rooms.
This Dining Room shows Alexa’s versatility; the grasscloth walls and the African textiles and baskets give this room a very global feel~
Master Bedrooms are sanctuaries and Alexa knows this one well because it belongs to her.
What a soothing retreat after a day full of color and raising three children. I particularly love the clean-lined canopy. Alexa explained that the height of the ceiling did not give her and her husband the cocoon feeling she so wanted. She used the canopy to effectively lower the ceiling in the space over the bed and achieved just that. I think it’s a grand idea, don’t you?
This is a sample of one of her amazing inspiration boards~As my loyal readers know, I also love putting my boards together for a project. I find it really helps me refine my vision for a space and showcase textures, colors, and creativity. I love the mix of elements on this inspiration board, so intriguing and tactile!
Alexa Hampton’s new book will be released in June. While the title is still not decided I am already sure it will be on my coffee table just as soon as I can pick it up!

Pamela's Posh Picks: Rolf Benz Studio
Mar 16 2012 · 4 comments · Posh Picks ·0
One of Europe’s most prestigious brands of contemporary furniture, Rolf Benz, has made its grand arrival at the Boston Design Center! Managed by the outstanding and much loved Gary Riegel, Rolf Benz Studio is the exclusive dealer for Rolf Benz, as well as European brands Draenert and TEAM 7, in the Boston area. I had the great pleasure of visiting this sleek new showroom recently and found my latest Posh Picks.
The furniture from Rolf Benz of Germany is simultaneously modern and timeless and the pieces are stylish~with a secret. It is truly magical, you just have to see the tricks these pieces perform to believe your eyes. What appears to be a sofa can transform effortlessly into a bed or even a recliner (and a sexy looking one at that!). Take a look…
My first Posh Pick is the Rolf Benz 4500:
The sensual rounded surfaces give this sofa an unconventional look that invites limitless relaxation, don’t you think?
Next, the Rolf Benz Onda:
The Onda is as versatile as it is flowing, with individual, modular pieces that can accommodate any floor plan.
The Rolf Benz Plura:
Now this piece is remarkable. Features include a fold out side arm and a swiveling seat along with a backwards and upwards adjustable back. Got that?? You can lounge, sit, recline, or sleep on this beautiful, multi-functional sofa~ now that’s a bargain!
My Posh Pick here is the fab circle carpet:
Paired with another Rolf Benz sectional, it makes a bold and graphic statement.
My final Posh Pick is the Coco chair by Draenert: Don’t you just love the S-line curves of this modern chair? And it’s comfortable too! German engineering succeeds in cars and furniture!
Of course the best way to experience this fabulous furniture is to visit Gary and Holly at Rolf Benz Studio for a demonstration and a walk around this lush new showroom. Contact me, I’d be glad to accompany you!
