Today I’d like to share with you three paintings by a woman who is not only a supremely talented artist, but one of my oldest and dearest friends: Sandy Welch.
You may recognize Sandy’s work as I’ve shared it in this space before. I have several of her paintings in my home including a spectacular beach scene in my foyer. Either way, you are in for a treat!
A Peek Inside the Empty Nest Studio

Welcome to my favorite room in my house. It is the least decorated, the messiest and I am happiest when in here surrounded by all my creative clutter. It is my studio.
This is where I paint as often as I possibly can. Come in and see what is behind the (usually) closed door…

If you’ve been reading my blog for any length of time, you know how important art is to me. Along with being an interior designer, I am an artist. Throughout the course of my studies, I have been fortunate to learn from and paint alongside so many brilliant local artists. This week I’ll be shining the spotlight on several of these talented women along with a look inside my own studio.
Pamela’s Posh Picks: Gas Fireplaces

The Arctic air has arrived in the Northeast and this week has been cold. When you are faced with a sub zero wind chill outside, inside seems like the best place to be. What could make it even better? How about cozying up in front of a warm gas fireplace!

Last fall a brand new space was unveiled at the Boston Design Center: the 342 Designer’s Club. 342 (so named for the suite number it occupies) is a private, dedicated space for quiet work, client meetings, conferences and small events.

Pamela’s Posh Picks: Creative Closet Storage
Jan 18 2013 · 0 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·0
For this week’s Posh Picks I’m exploring a different way of thinking about clothing storage. Grow beyond the expected (and slightly boring) single rod, and imagine how your clothing and accessories would look in one of these beautiful furniture pieces…
Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald
Jan 17 2013 · 0 comments · Posh Pinterest Boards ·1
This week I’m pleased to introduce what I plan to be a regular feature, Posh Pinterest Board of the Week. While I love my Posh Palettes Presentation Panels, I also love the sheer volume and variety of images that Pinterest makes so easily accessible. I find it to be such a wonderful way to immerse myself in creativity and beautiful images all while staying organized.
To kick off this new feature, today I’m spotlighting one of my very own Pinterest boards: 2013 Color of the Year: Emerald. I hope you enjoy seeing some of my favorite pins from this board…

Pamela’s Posh Picks: The Divine Chair
Jan 11 2013 · 2 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·0
While visiting NYC in December, I had just a sliver of time to check out the GreenFlea Market on Manhattan’s Upper West side. It was my first visit and most assuredly not my last!
Local Library Art

Some of the best, most appealing art shows in my area are held at local library galleries.
These two wonderful paintings are by a dear friend I worked with a long time ago, Julie Sims Messenger. Julie is a talented botanical artist and I love how her style has evolved in these paintings full of realism and vibrancy.

This year the holiday break afforded me a leisurely respite from work with plenty of time to sip champagne with friends and family and the luxury of a few days to partake in activities I most love…
Pamela’s Posh Picks: Stylish Winter Wear
Jan 05 2013 · 0 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·0
This week winter has coming roaring into New England. Temperatures yesterday barely made it to 20 degrees ~ what is a fashionista to do if she has to go outside? Bundle up in this week’s Posh Picks of course!
Pamela’s Posh Picks: My Favorite Christmas Cards
Dec 21 2012 · 0 comments · Personal, Posh Picks ·1
Capturing the annual Christmas card photo when my children were younger was not an easy task. After what seemed like 48 attempts, a few tears (theirs and mine), and possibly a bribe or two, finally we would have a ‘keeper’. Now that they are older, the process is, slightly, easier ;-).
Paint Like Van Gogh

I mentioned in yesterday’s post that my painting group’s next challenge topic is Paint Like Matisse, inspired by our trip to the Met. I thought you might enjoy seeing my painting from last month’s challenge at Girls Just Wanna Paint, Paint Like Van Gogh.
Matisse at the Met
Dec 19 2012 · 0 comments · Art Exhibits & Events, Artists ·0
While visiting NYC a couple of weeks ago I had the great pleasure of viewing the Matisse exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum during the member’s preview. The exhibit spanned his career and included paintings in pairs, trios and series. Matisse (1869-1954) was continually trying, as he put it, “to push further and deeper into true painting”. Along with my friend and fellow artist Page, we explored the exhibit, Matisse: In Search of True Painting.
Pamela’s Posh Picks: The Light Fantastic
Dec 14 2012 · 0 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·0
Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or the Winter Solstice, light in its many forms is a common thread and an integral part of the observance. December holds the shortest, and therefore darkest, days of the year and our seasonal celebrations reflect our need for the comfort of light.
Of course who says light has to be boring to be comforting? Certainly not me! Today’s Posh Picks showcase vibrant, upbeat, colorful, and stylish ways to bring light into your home.
