Holiday Cookie Swap

Dec 17 2014 · 2 comments · Food & Drink, Holiday, Personal ·0

Tis the season for gathering with friends and family, indulging in treats and merriment.  I was so disappointed to have to miss my dear friend Gina’s recent annual Holiday Cookie Swap party so I thought I might try to make up for it with a “virtual” cookie swap.   IMG_6069 When I was a little girl, my mother really didn’t bake unless it was a birthday cake. Perhaps this had to do with the fact that our oven often exploded into flames that we had to extinguish with salt (good lesson to learn as a young girl).  No wonder our cakes always had a salty taste… After getting married, I learned that my In-Laws are great cooks and bakers.  My sister-in-law Kathy taught my Emily and me how to bake Christmas cookies years ago and I have loved this tradition ever since….especially my favorite Sugar Cookies. Over the years, we’ve made the tradition our own:  I designed my own custom cookie cutters  and my children came up with the idea to create one-of-a kind sugar mixtures for all of our creations. One year I may have even decorated cookies to match our Back Bay condo…   Pam Copeman apt scouting 12 09_0004Pam Copeman apt scouting 12 09_0053Pam Copeman apt scouting 12 09_0086
File that under ‘things only an interior designer would do’!  I must say though, they looked quite stunning. In the spirit of the Cookie Swap, I’m sharing one of my favorite recipes ~this is the one we use each year at the holidays.  I purchase colored sugars at a local cake decorating supply shop (Lorraine’s in Hanover if you’re local).  By combining different colored sugars and covering the whole cookie, you can achieve some wonderfully creative and delicious results… Copeman Butter Cookies Of course you mustn’t forget a beautiful presentation… IMG_5867 Cookie baking is a great activity to do with family and friends of all ages ~my “helper” last year.  The tradition continues! IMG_5861 If you have a favorite cookie recipe, I’d love for you to share it in the comments section 🙂 .

Enjoy and Happy Baking!

xo, Pamela

I believe my designs should be a reflection of the people who live in the home. I also consider the style and integrity of the house. It is my goal to expose my clients to the latest trends and materials so that they have all the choices to make the best decisions for the project.
