5 Ideas from the Heading Home To Dinner Event to Incorporate Into Your Holiday Tablescape

Oct 24 2018 · 0 comments · Design Events, Food & Drink ·0

Once again, the Heading Home to Dinner event at Boston Design Week was a huge success.  In just the 2nd year, we raised $111,000!  These funds will pay a year’s rent for four families ~ yippee!  This was also my 2nd year designing for the event and I cannot wait for next year.  In the meantime, take a peek at some of the amazing tabletop and bar cart designs from this year’s event and a few ideas I spotted that you can easily incorporate into your own holiday tablescape…

1.  Hand Paint A Tablecloth

Many table coverings are created from stunning designer fabrics but to create the pattern for a table by hand is really something special. This table was created just that way with hand painted patterned markings. Love!

2.  Add Art

Of course any bar cart embellished with art is my favorite 😉 Art is a wonderful compliment the theme of your table or bar cart.  Isn’t there always room for art?

3.  Oversized Place Cards

You Can’t Sit With Us: The Ultimate Dinner Party by Stephanie Rossi, Spazio Rosso, Inc.

These oversized placecards are hard to miss and I imagine makes that someone feel very special.  A bold and graphic departure from the expected (small) place cards we usually see.

4.  More Flowers, More Color

Who doesn’t love flowers on a table? I believe floral arrangements are a necessity not only as part of a table design but all over the home. This Morrocan style table is luxurious with the color pop of these flowers and the unique height of the vases…love, love love!

5.  Go Vertical

Enter the World of Gatsby! by Kristine Mullaney, Kristine Mullaney Design

Making use of vertical height is so dramatic and practical too. You are not impeding any one’s view across the table and the impact of the elevated arrangement is awesome. To keep the eye moving and add sparkle, I love how the designers filled the clear vase with glass beads. Colored glass beads would be wonderful as well~

Don’t forget to look up and consider using the vertical space above your table. Take inspiration from this tablescape by swagging or draping a piece of fabric above a rectangular table. You can create intimacy and coziness along with eye level “pop” and excitement.

Hope these table and bar cart designs inspire you to take your holiday table to the  next level!

xo,

Pamela
