Charlotte Moss at the Boston Design Center
Jul 02 2013 · 0 comments · Design Events ·5
Last month Century Furniture hosted interior design celebrity Charlotte Moss at the Boston Design Center. Having recently heard her present at the Design Bloggers Conference in Los Angeles, I was very excited to hear her speak once again. Ms. Moss’ manner is a delightful blend of pure southern grace peppered with a dry sense of humor which means her presentations are not only full of information but also highly entertaining…

The House A “Small But Mighty” Team Built In Guatemala
Jun 26 2013 · 4 comments · Personal, Travel ·0
The team I was part of for the mission trip to Guatemala consisted of three designing women (that sounds familiar…) and three outstanding teenagers along with one very driven foreman, Diego. When we finished building our house it was said that we were overachievers: we built our house faster than any other team in 7 years! Woo Hoo!
I wonder, does that mean that we have to build even faster next year??
Here’s a glimpse at our build…
Guatemala Mission Trip: The Faces…

“We gain strength and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face…we must do that which we think we cannot.”
~Eleanor Roosevelt
As I settle into my life again, post Guatemala, in my beautiful, clean home on the water I am feeling so blessed. I can go to my sink and pour a glass of water and drink it with no worries of dysentery. I have been to the Fruit Center and I have plenty of healthy food to eat. And there is no one on the street with a rifle.
My mission trip to Guatemala was a profound experience. I knew it would be, but I was not sure in what ways. To be honest, I think I will be figuring this out for some time. For now I know I am so grateful to live in this country, and I am happy to be home with my family and friends.
Today I want to share with you what struck me the most on my trip: the faces of the people we met in Guatemala, especially the children. These faces are etched on my heart and will forever be there…
Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: Flora (Encore)
Jun 24 2013 · 1 comment · Posh Pinterest Boards ·0
When I returned home from my trip to Guatemala late last week, one of the things I was most happy to see was the bright colors that enliven our local landscape this time of year. It’s the rainy season in Guatemala which means everything was lush and green. Lots and lots of green with very few blooming flowers. I was anxious to see the containers on my deck and they did not disappoint, welcoming me with their happy blossoms.
That’s why this week I wanted to (once again) highlight my Flora Pinterest board. With gardens and containers in full, beautiful bloom, nothing makes me happier than lots and lots of color. Here are a few of my favorite pins…
To Guatemala With Love

“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.”
~Barack Obama
This week I am in Guatemala with Kelly and her team through CRI. Before we left, Kelly sent us a photo of the family we will be building a home for…

Posh Pinterest Board of the Week: All About MY Art
Jun 03 2013 · 3 comments · Artists, Posh Pinterest Boards ·1
While this week’s board is entitled ‘All About My Art‘, it doesn’t actually feature my art but rather that of my dear friend, artist Sandy Welch. Sandy has been involved with color since we first met selling lipsticks and eyeshadows with Clinique. Her best use of color is evident when she paints. Her brave use of technicolor shades of pinks, oranges, and yellows are my favorite ~ so vibrant and juicy you can almost taste them!
Come take a peek at a few of my favorite pins (paintings) by artist Sandy Welch…

The heat and humidity have returned to Boston. That means beach and pool weather are here as well. Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, Kitchen and Powder Room
May 29 2013 · 0 comments · My Designs ·0
It’s finally time to wrap up this huge project!
Like the family room, the kitchen is a gathering place for families. You may be curious about the Kitchen in this retreat home: how does it accommodate the large family, the guests and all the cooks? In this case, very well indeed. The existing footprint for this space was perfect, open to the Living Room and outfitted with updated cabinetry. With no major construction necessary, I was able to concentrate my design for the space on the cosmetic changes that allow the Kitchen to work in harmony with the rest of the home and the views beyond. That meant new tile, new light fixtures, and paint for nearly every surface. We also created a spacious eating nook in a space that was undersized for the proportions of the home…
Diary of an Interior Designer: Cape Cod Seaside Home, The Living Room
May 28 2013 · 0 comments · Artists, Behind the Design, Meet the Team, My Designs ·0
The Living Room is always the center of the home and a gathering place for family. It is a place to come together for celebrations, conversation and the making of memories. In this house the Living Room is literally and figuratively in the center of the home. The prime location means the space boasts breathtaking, panoramic views of the waterfront. This Living Room is also replete with character-building architectural details ~ which means we had another great starting point for our interior design. Come on in…
