During BlogTourVegas we toured The New American Home where all of the flooring, including hardwood and carpets, was from Mohawk and Karastan ~ and they were all spectacular.

So luxurious and beautiful…

We were introduced to Mohawk’s amazing new carpet called SmartStrand Silk (Forever Clean).  Not only great looking and oh-so soft (it truly does feel like silk) but it can stand up to the “Red Wine” test. SmartStrand Silk is the only premium soft carpet with built-in stain and soil protection that never washes or wears off!

Have you ever worried about serving red wine at a party, fearing the stains it could leave on your carpet?  After the demonstration we saw at BlogTourVegas with SmartStrand Silk carpet ~ worry no more!  Two white carpet swatches were left floating in a glass of red wine.  One carpet was ordinary nylon and the other was new SmartStrand Silk.

The nylon carpet absorbed the red color at the base so that even though some of the red wine stain could be dabbed out, the area was still left with a blush of color.

The SmartStrand Silk was an entirely different story.  The carpet sample floated on top of the wine and repelled the stain. The SmartStrand was taken out of the cleaning water, it appeared to have a red hue, but once gently blotted, the stain was gone! The best part is that the wine stain did not penetrate the base of the carpet. It’s a miracle!
