Pamela’s Posh Picks: Summer Reading

Aug 01 2013 · 2 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·2

Happy August!  What a wonderful month for relaxing at the beach and catching up with your summer reading.  This week’s Posh Picks features books that I’m currently enjoying and looking forward to reading.

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

books

I am currently reading this for my book club.  It is, literally, laugh out loud funny.  Crazy, wacky characters make for comedy heaven ~ highly recommend!

Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

Three cups of tea book cover

This book was suggested to me by my dear friend Lisa.  “One man’s mission to promote peace…one school at a time” ~ while this memoir is set in Pakistan, I’m sure I’ll be thinking of my young friends in Guatemala as I read it.

Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

Unbroken

I am a big fan of all the research that Ms. Hillenbrand puts into her books.  I very much enjoyed Seabiscuit and am looking forward to reading this book as several women in my book group have said it is their favorite book of all time.

What are you reading this summer?  I’d love to hear!

Finally, I have a painting for this week.  Inspired by my trip, I am still dreaming of the children of Guatemala…

Great post! Always good to get book ideas. I loved “3 Cups.’. However it turns out Greg Mortenson made some of the story up. I just finished “Gone Girl” and am now reading “And the Mountains echoed” by Khaled Hosseini.
