Pamela’s Posh Picks: Creative Closet Storage

Jan 18 2013 · 0 comments · My Paintings, Posh Picks ·0

For this week’s Posh Picks I’m exploring a different way of thinking about clothing storage.  Grow beyond the expected (and slightly boring) single rod, and imagine how your clothing and accessories would look in one of these beautiful furniture pieces…

Camden Display Cabinet from Somerset Bay Home

This cabinet is a wonderful piece that I’ve used in my designs before. Along with being an beautiful addition to your decorative scheme, the Camden case provides organized storage with a hint of coastal flair.  The drawers are ideal for lingerie, socks, jewelry and small accessories (think belts and scarves).  Meanwhile the shelving provides a perfect spot to store folded sweaters and men’s shirts (organized by color, of course) or  handbags, hats, or shoes that are just too pretty to be hidden away.

Modular Bar with Wine Tower Grid from Pottery Barn

Arranged kitty-corner in a bedroom, this chic piece provides a wealth of creative storage options.  I could easily envision a jewelry box and mirror along with some petite artwork arranged in the shelving.  I love the pull out tray, great for laying out accessories or even styling a vignette.  The grid would make a perfect home for shoes ~ of course if you’re feeling romantic you could always use it for wine!

Barbara Barry Glass Front Cabinet from Baker Furniture

I adore the contemporary-classic design of this piece and its sleek, beautiful lines.  I envision this cabinet in a men’s dressing room or a master bedroom suite.  The drawers work equally well for men’s or women’s intimate garments while the glass shelves are perfect for t-shirts, sweaters or folded denim.

In keeping with the theme of this week’s Posh Picks, this week’s petite oil painting features more creative clothing storage…

‘Dress Shirts’ by Pamela Copeman

By expanding your definition of a closet, you can expand and enhance your clothing and accessory storage and cure yourself of ‘closet envy’!
