A Poem & A Painting: Rose Tree

Aug 04 2014 · 1 comment · A Poem & A Painting, My Paintings ·0

This month’s Girls Just Wanna Paint challenge was Tree.  It had me stumped for a while (hehe),  but as I was  perusing my inspiration file I came across a photo of a girl with a floral crown.   I loved the ‘Rose Tree’ upon her head and I was off and painting.  I love this poem and I think it the perfect complement for my lovely fashionista with a rose crown. What do you think?…

Roses
~George Eliot

You love the roses – so do I. I wish
The sky would rain down roses, as they rain
From off the shaken bush. Why will it not?
Then all the valley would be pink and white
And soft to tread on. They would fall as light
As feathers, smelling sweet: and it would be
Like sleeping and yet waking, all at once.

Check out the other artists’ interpretations of Tree on the GJWP blog ~ the other paintings are a bit more conventional and all are so beautiful!

I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.
– Emma Goldman

This was very creative. I love the idea of the crown on the head. A very clever work.
