A Poem & A Painting: Empty Nest

Apr 20 2015 · 4 comments · A Poem & A Painting ·0

As Emily’s wedding to Nick approaches, I’m finding myself very reflective (and teary on occasion if I’m being honest) of the time I’ve spent so far being her mother.  Time seems to be flying and it’s hard to believe that the wedding is less than three weeks away!  It does seem like just yesterday that I was holding her in my arms…

excerpt from My Empty Nest

…I was happy for you

just my heart was bleeding

knowing it had to let you go

to travel your own journey

For I had my time

and I did my best

Now I know you must do the rest.

Your calling was stronger

then my holding.

And I don’t want to cling

I want you to have the best of everything.

Here is my latest Empty Nest painting, created in advance of Emily’s Bridal Shower.   It’s larger scale (16×20) than I usually work but I wanted to have it make a statement in the space it hangs…

Marrying Nick, I know Emily is getting the best and I know she will always be ‘my girl’!

P.S.  Happy Marathon Monday to my Boston friends and good luck to the runners (and spectators) on this rather cold, and soon to be rainy & windy day.

Pam, all of life seems predicated upon change – never simple, never easy but we have no choice but to welcome it and adapt and go on within our own little speres knowing we’ve laid the groundwork. We must simply hope for the best and know we will be a part of it perhaps in a different way but important none the less. Love to you, my friend.

I believe my designs should be a reflection of the people who live in the home. I also consider the style and integrity of the house. It is my goal to expose my clients to the latest trends and materials so that they have all the choices to make the best decisions for the project.
